Every Sunday

sundays with grandma

After Grandma Tolbert died, I realized that time was short. I knew that you would not be around forever so I made the decision that every Sunday after church I would stop by your house. I didn’t realize it would turn into you making Sunday lunch for the next six years. Typically it was just you and me eating and talking…mainly me eating and you talking. Mom would always say why are you going to Grandma Alexander‘s house? You never went to Grandma Tolbert‘s house like that. I would just smile because I was thankful that I got to spend that time with you. Now every time I see beef stew, cornbread vegetable plate with onions, or fried okra I’m taken right back to that table in those memories.
